We are looking for employees who want to share in the success of being part of an industry leader in wildfire suppression for over 25 years.

IFMI is looking for individuals who are self motivated, communicate effectively and can always demonstrate professionalism. Fire deployments can be upwards to 18 days, including travel throughout the province. A typical workday usually consists of 12 hours (travel inclusive) with overtime paid after 8 hours. Accommodations can vary from BC Wildfire, fire camp (tenting) to hotels and local fires where you come home each evening. Sometimes you are traveling, camping, and working with the same fire crew for weeks. 

We are looking for firefighters who are organized, accountable, dependable, and team players. You will need to be in good physical health to pass the BC Wildfire mandatory physical test.  
IFMI requires our firefighters to be available to work on short notice and be able to commit to going away to work for 3 to 18 days at a time. 

Type 3 & Structural: Due to the uncertain nature of firefighting, it is not recommended to relocate for the “Type 3” or Structural Fire Fighting contract. It is preferred you live within 2 hours of Duncan B.C. Successful candidates may be offered other part-time and full time employment within our forestry and engineering divisions. 

The BC Wildfire Service has specific deadlines for contractors to add Type 2 personnel to their roster - APPLY TODAY to ensure you don't miss the cut off for the 2023 fire season. 

Note: As of December 13,2021, the BCWS now requires ALL fire line Contractors to supply FULLY Vaccinated personal for all of their Contracts. For more information or if you have questions about this requirement, please contact the BCWS directly.

Forest Engineer

Intermediate to Senior Forest Engineer

Iverson Forest Management Inc. is looking for driven, motivated Intermediate and Senior Forest Engineers to join our Engineering Team.

As a Forest Engineer, you will be working on a variety of projects. You will be an integral member of our team, responsible for layout of cutblocks and roads for public and private land logging operations,
and completion of related office work. Other duties include crew supervision, client liaison and implementation of our safety program throughout your work activities.

IFMI was established in 1990 and has a proven track record in providing multi-phase harvest solutions on Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland. Today we offer a full range of Forest Engineering, Standing Stem Harvesting, Private Property Resources Management, and Fire Fighting services. Our company provides a wide array of services to Industry, Government, and First Nation Clients. We take pride in delivering quality services to our clients, in a safe and efficient manner, while fostering a team oriented environment. Iverson Forest Management’s headquarters is located in the beautiful Cowichan Valley.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

* Post-secondary degree or technical diploma in forestry; with registration (or eligibility for registration) with the ABCFP;

* Minimum of 3 years forest engineering experience;

* Solid working knowledge of forestry legislation and regulations in B.C. (e.g. FRPA, Forest Act etc.)

* Proficiency with computer software including RoadEng, Word and Excel;

* A valid BC driver’s license;

* Good communication skills and experience in crew supervision;

* Knowledge of GPS surveying techniques and GIS software is an asset.
