IFMI is looking for individuals who are self motivated, communicate effectively and can always demonstrate professionalism. Fire deployments can be upwards to 18 days, including travel throughout the province. A typical workday usually consists of 12 hours (travel inclusive) with overtime paid after 8 hours. Accommodations can vary from BC Wildfire, fire camp (tenting) to hotels and local fires where you come home each evening. Sometimes you are traveling, camping, and working with the same fire crew for weeks. 

We are looking for firefighters who are organized, accountable, dependable, and team players. You will need to be in good physical health to pass the BC Wildfire mandatory physical test.  
IFMI requires our firefighters to be available to work on short notice and be able to commit to going away to work for 3 to 18 days at a time. 

Type 3 & Structural: Due to the uncertain nature of firefighting, it is not recommended to relocate for the “Type 3” or Structural Fire Fighting contract. It is preferred you live within 2 hours of Duncan B.C. Successful candidates may be offered other part-time and full time employment within our forestry and engineering divisions. 

The BC Wildfire Service will not allow contractors to add personnel to their roster after April 1 for Type 2 and July 1st for Type 3 of any given year. 

Fire Coordinator

Fire Coordinator Position

A Fire Coordinator is a key person in the success of our Companies Wildland Firefighting division. The role requires exceptional time management skills, good communication abilities and works well under pressure with tight deadlines.
This position is currently Seasonal however you will be the first contact for deployment and/or Ministry communications so availability must be 24 hours per day, 7 days a week from May to Sept. This position could lead to Full-Time in different roles throughout our associated Companies.

Include but not limited to: 

• Posting/ interviewing/ assisting in filling vacancies within IFMI’s divisions.

• Compile Fire crews based on BC Wildfire (RSO) Crew Specifications

• Responsible for setting up training needed to fulfill certifications as per contracts.

• Some HR duties such as payroll input, employee documents, offer letters etc.

• Fire equipment inventories, service and/or purchase replacements

• Coherent and Proficient in communicating through verbal and written correspondence for our Suppliers within Coastal and Interior Wildfire Management Branch and local companies.

• Knowledge of Wildfire Management Branch Website, Wildfire Act and Regulations, WCB Act and WorkSafeBC Regulations.  

The preferred candidate will also possess the following qualifications:

• Proficiency with computer software including Word, Excel, Outlook

• A valid BC drivers license (Class 5 or 4)

• S-100 (Basic Fire Suppression) and S-185 (Wildfire Entrapment) preferred (but not necessary, in-house training available)

• A commitment to maintain a high level of safety, efficiency, confidentiality, quality in all aspects of work.

• A desire for a fun, challenging and rewarding experience in protecting British Columbia’s Natural Resources

Seasonal Brush Cutters and Herbicide/Pesticide Applicators

Sea Wolf Forestry is looking for Seasonal Brush Cutters and Herbicide/Pesticide Applicators. The role to be filled will include tasks such as removal of Invasive plants through means of herbicide and pesticide applications, as well as brush cutting private lands to help rehabilitate and keep our forests healthy for future growth and development. This work is weather dependent, Monday thru Friday.

The successful candidate will have the desire and compassion to help others and to protect property and the environment. This position could lead to all year employment thru Sea Wolfs associated Companies.

Required:
* Must hold a valid Pesticide Applicator Certificate either Industrial, Forestry or Assistant Applicator.
* Must be familiar with GPS software (Maps)
* Class 5 driver license
* PSO- Power Saw operator Certificate (Experience & confident using a Power Saw)

Forest Engineer

Intermediate to Senior Forest Engineer

Iverson Forest Management Inc. is looking for driven, motivated Intermediate and Senior Forest Engineers to join our Engineering Team.

As a Forest Engineer, you will be working on a variety of projects. You will be an integral member of our team, responsible for layout of cutblocks and roads for public and private land logging operations,
and completion of related office work. Other duties include crew supervision, client liaison and implementation of our safety program throughout your work activities.

IFMI was established in 1990 and has a proven track record in providing multi-phase harvest solutions on Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland. Today we offer a full range of Forest Engineering, Standing Stem Harvesting, Private Property Resources Management, and Fire Fighting services. Our company provides a wide array of services to Industry, Government, and First Nation Clients. We take pride in delivering quality services to our clients, in a safe and efficient manner, while fostering a team oriented environment. Iverson Forest Management’s headquarters is located in the beautiful Cowichan Valley.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

* Post-secondary degree or technical diploma in forestry; with registration (or eligibility for registration) with the ABCFP;

* Minimum of 3 years forest engineering experience;

* Solid working knowledge of forestry legislation and regulations in B.C. (e.g. FRPA, Forest Act etc.)

* Proficiency with computer software including RoadEng, Word and Excel;

* A valid BC driver’s license;

* Good communication skills and experience in crew supervision;

* Knowledge of GPS surveying techniques and GIS software is an asset.
