Type 2 Wildland Firefighter Qualifications Checklist:

Wildland fire fighting experience. 

  • Crew Leaders must have a minimum of 72 days on a fire line & Crew members must have a minimum of 35 days on a fire line.

All Type 2 members are required to hold the following Certificates:

  • OFA 1 + TE
  • S100 cert & S185 (refresher yearly for S100)
  • WHMIS 2015
  • TDG- Transportation of Dangerous Goods
  • Valid drivers license & Drivers abstract.
  • Par -Q form (Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire)

Additional Mandatory Certifications

The following Courses are available thru IFMI by Dean Iverson who is a Recognized Instructor with BC Wildfire Services, if required. 

Crew members must have:

  • ICS 100
  • S211
  • S212
  • S213

Crew leaders must have:

  • ICS 100 & 200
  • S211
  • S212
  • S213
  • S230
  • S235
  • S241

Fitness Test:

  • Successful applicants are required to participate and pass in the WFX Fitness test (Circuit) appraised by WFX-FIT accredited BCWS personal. 17:45 mins or better are expected. The test and it’s components can be viewed at www.ciffc.ca/standards/wfx-fit/wfx-fit-training 

Priority is given to those applicants with the following certifications:

  • Wildland DTA
  • OFA 3
  • Certified Faller
  • PSO
